Smart Giving

Many people who support the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Council of Pittsburgh choose to give from their assets – stocks, individual retirement accounts, grants from their donor-advised funds, and cryptocurrency to experience great tax benefits. If you would like to create a smarter giving opportunity, please use the information below:

Qualified Charitable Distributions

If you are 70.5 or older, giving from your IRA can help reduce your taxable income — and for those over 73 who must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), an IRA gift is a simple way to fulfill it! By using the link below to give from your IRA, you can auto-complete your paperwork and we can track your gift to send you the proper tax receipts. Give from my IRA.

Gifts of Stock

Donating stocks allows you to avoid capital gains tax and often take a charitable deduction for the full value of the asset. Use this tool to donate stock so we can track your gift, send you the correct receipt, and you can get the tax savings you deserve. If you would prefer to make your donation through your broker, access our transfer information from the link above to notify the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of your gift. Give a gift of stock.

Donor-Advised Funds

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) are investment accounts for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations today. This tool automatically links with your DAF, allows you to recommend how you’d like your gift to be used, and notifies the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of your intentions.  It’s a great way to ensure consistent financial support while saving cash for immediate needs. Give from my DAF.

Gifts of Cryptocurrency

We now accept donations of Ethereum, Bitcoin, and other cryptocurrencies! This gives us one more way to fund our work and can provide you with extra tax benefits. Give Cryptocurrency.

Bequests

Making a bequest is one of the simplest ways to support the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. You can designate a specific amount or percentage of the residual of your estate to the Society as either a primary or contingent beneficiary. A gift to the in your will or revocable trust enables you to support our mission and make a difference in the lives of future generations.

Have you already included us in your estate plan?

Please let us know! It can often be difficult to plan and make sure that your gifts are used in line with your wishes if they are left unknown. But more importantly, we want to say thank you for considering our work as a part of your legacy.

Please contact Jennifer Thoma at 412.321.1071x1204 or jthoma@svdppitt.org to help us understand your goals and keep you connected to your impact during your lifetime.
