Job Description

Recycling Center Foreperson Salary – $37,000 – $42,000 + benefits + $1,000 sign on bonus
Job Summary: Responsible for assisting the Director of Operations and Warehouse Transportation Supervisor with the day-to-day operation of the warehouse. Upholds the mission and values of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the performance of duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Knowledge of the operation and procedures of the warehouse (forklift and baling equipment).
  • Maintain the safety and cleanliness of the warehouse and warehouse offices.
  • Manage Warehouse Staff (laborers and drivers)
  • Loading and unloading of box trucks and trailers
  • Tracking weights, pick-ups and deliveries
  • Scheduling Staff
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professionalism, poise, and the ability to keep business information confidential.

  • The ability to concentrate for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to shift focus from one task to another.
  • The ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

The employee is occasionally required to: stand when conversing with various individuals, making copies, and sending faxes; walk throughout SVdP’s facilities; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl to place items in or get items from low drawers or shelves; lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (using proper lifting techniques), which may be furniture, store fixtures, or heavy merchandise.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus when walking throughout facilities; close vision for reading or completing paperwork; color vision when reviewing color-coded documents; distance vision when attending meetings and training sessions.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud because it involves driving in city traffic, working in the warehouse where there is a lot of activity and machinery running, and delivering to stores that are open to the public.
